The scholarship programs for Georgia’s colleges and schools are still in the very early stages of development, but some of the biggest names are already participating in the effort.
The most significant players in Georgia’s scholarship programs are the universities of Georgia and South Carolina, and they are joining together in an effort to help support more students and their families.
The universities of North Carolina and Georgia are also collaborating with one another.
“We have to make sure that we have all of our institutions participating,” said Robert Smith, president of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
“I don’t want to be an example of anybody being too selfish or not wanting to do what they can to make a difference.”
The universities of Florida and Georgia have joined together to create the National College Scholarship and Scholarship Opportunity Fund, which has already helped support scholarships for nearly 600 students across Georgia.
The scholarships are intended to help Georgia’s students and families, and Smith said that, as a whole, the program has been an amazing success.
